Carter Faith is a force to be reckoned with. As you hear on her new song, “If I Had Never Lost My Mind…,” she shoots for the stars and beyond. Her force is not unlike a fireball hurtling through space and time. It’s a striking performance that further cements Faith as one of today’s best upstarts. “If I was a girl who wasn’t deranged, a little more stable, a little less strange,” she coos, her voice carrying away on the torch ballad.

Her voice rings as clear and crips as ever. She evokes Nancy Sinatra, while carving out her own unique vocal path to greatness. “If I, if only I could settle the chemicals running my brain,” she confides.“I could be happy and you would’ve stayed, if I had never lost my mind.” Faith is never forceful in her performance; it exists as a slow burning of candle wax, sultry and hot-to-the-touch.

After debuting the song at the Ryman Auditorium, she reflects on the song, saying, “This song is about the stories we tell ourselves in times of messiness. Whether it’s love lost or not, I can drive myself crazy remembering the pain and ruminating on the ‘what-if’s This song grieves what would have happened ‘If I Had Never Lost My Mind…’”
