Sometimes, all you need is a night out on the town to wash away the blues. Midland does as much with their new song “Glass Half Empty,” a spirited ’90s jukebox jam that’ll cure any sadness. “I had a glass-half-empty attitude / ‘Til I walked in here and it changed my mood,” the trio belts, inviting the listener out on the dance floor for a little boot-scootin.
“Hey, glass-half-empty, I know you / You need a couple doubles and a two-step or two,” the group advises. “Push some sawdust around, just say when / I’ll get your glass half-empty full again, hey.” The song glows underneath the bright neon lights. Drinks slosh around, and it’s all about having a good time. Heartbreak might have crashed their heart, but they’ll dance and drink the pain away.
“I wish we had this song in our canon when we were playing Poodies Roadhouse or The Broken Spoke years ago,” Cameron Duddy says in a press statement. “It’s got more guts than anything we’ve put out and feels like the sweaty nights we spent in the Texas Honky Tonks where we got our start.”
