Ashley Ryan endured unimaginable pain. She picks up the pieces, mends her heart, and writes a song called “Wrong Post.” In its vintage veneer, she takes aim and wishes her ex all the luck he’s gonna so desperately need. “You stole my heart, and did so easily / I fell hard / You had everything / Gave you a chance / You took it for granted / And now, you’re stranded,” she opens the song.
Fiddle cries in spirals around her thick strawberry twang. “You picked the wrong post to tie your horse to,” she sings on the hook. “Wrong Post” carries a Tanya Tucker attitude, wrapped around her own signature vocals. It’s style is as classic as it is contemporary, borrowing cues from Lainey Wilson. It’s guaranteed to earn constant loops on any playlist!
In a press statement, she shares on the song’s thematic underpinning, saying “There is nothing more painful than loving someone who not only doesn’t love you back, but betrays your trust by cheating.”
“After reaching the acceptance stage of grief, I was ready to move on and write my therapy song,” she adds.
