Caylee Hammack goes for the hot-to-the-touch smolder with a new song. “How Long,” sampling her forthcoming Bed of Roses, slips off her lips like droplets of wine. “If I had it my way, you’d stay ’til Sunday,” she whispers. “We’d leave the world alone; take it slow and if the phone rings we’d just let it.”
“How Long” stands as a testament to Hammack’s expert vocal tricks. She’s able to pull in the reins and let the melody worm into the eardrums. Other times, she shoots for the cosmos, busting through the roof and leaving the world behind her. “We’re livin’ it up, playin’ it down whenever our friends come around,” she sings through parted lips.
Bed of Roses arrives March 7 and promises to explore both good and bad love. “Your bed of roses is the bed you make—you get to decide how you spend your time and how you plant your garden,” says Hammack in a press statement. “Good love is flowers that come back every year. Bad love, it’s just the thorn. Sometimes you’ve got to till sh** up. You’ve got to work through things, and it’s not going to be fun.”
