Rob Thomas with support from Grammy-Winning band A Great Big World ignited the stage at Mizner Park Amphitheater in Boca Raton, FL on August 3, 2025 on the All Nights Days Tour.

For the first time in eleven years, A Great Big World’s Ian Axel played his first South Florida show without his bandmate Chad King (he had to step away from performing due to his battle with Multiple Sclerosis).

Axel was supported on guitar by friend and producer Chris Cubeta during the six song set. The two began their set with an impassioned performance of “Can We Go Back Home” off of the band’s 2021 record Particles.

The singer/songwriter then launched into an energetic cover of the very popular “Teenage Dirtbag” by Weatus which got the crowd excited.

Axel then gave a sweet mention to King saying he couldn’t be at the show before performing “This Is The New Year” which was also featured on the TV series Glee in 2013.

Other songs featured in their set were “Say Something”, their brand new single “Away We Go” and 2018 single “Younger”.

The crowd then gave a standing applause at the conclusion of their set before the two exited the stage.

All-in-all, A Great Big World’s music greatly differs from Rob Thomas’s but they both have such beautiful messages weaved into their songs. My hope is that Rob’s fans walk away as AGBW fans and that it resonates with them. They were the perfect opener for him, and it makes me so proud as a long time fan of the indie-pop band that they’re getting such an incredible opportunity.

After a short intermission to prep the stage for Thomas, his bandmates settled into position with dimmed lights with the artist appearing lit up to a giant backdrop circle in the center of the stage opening up with “I Believe It” an unreleased track off his new record All Night Days set to release on September 5.

Thomas has lived two lives in a sense, as headman for his band Matchbox Twenty and as a solo vocalist. The frontman played an extensive set of songs from his band and solo catalog. He played everything from current single, “Hard To Be Happy”, “One Less Day (Dying Young)”, “Little Wonders” from Disney’s 2003 film Meet The Robinsons and “If You’re Gone”.

The crowd was amped the entire night as Rob performed quite the energetic set. Although, the standout performance of the night was when the group played Matchbox Twenty “3 AM” which featured Thomas’s super talented son Maison on guitar with a saxophone feature by Korel Tunador.

As someone who came for the support act, unfamiliar with Rob Thomas I left as a fan of his. It was a hot and magical night under the stars.

The All Night Days Tour continues through September 6. For tour dates and tickets you can visit Rob Thomas’s website here.

At the conclusion of the tour, A Great Big World is also playing a one-off show at the State Theatre in Pennsylvania for the first annual A Great Big Fight To End Hunger. Tickets for that show can be found here.
