John Oates of the legendary Hall & Oates is gearing up to release a new self-titled record that’s very much inspired by a new crop of songwriters, while keeping his defining R&B Pop sound of the 70’s and 80’s.
One group that has caught Oates’ ear is soul-pop sibling band Lawrence. The group, composed of Clyde Lawrence and Gracie Lawrence, was recruited for the new track titled “Enough Is Enough”.
“Enough Is Enough” is a joyful, feel-good track that features a funky baseline and three-part harmonies.
In an Instagram post, Lawrence said that “Enough Is Enough” was greatly inspired by their own track “Don’t Lose Sight“. You can definitely hear it throughout the song.
“Enough is Enough, oh yeah/ They try keeping you down, but I won’t let em/ That’s what I tell myself when I sleep at night/ Running in Place ain’t interesting, it’s crazy/ So don’t lose sight, baby don’t lose sight.”
The message of the track is simple: don’t let anyone bring you down, and don’t lose sight of those big dreams. We all go through moments where that little bit of doubt creeps in, when those goals seem so far away, or maybe we are not doing enough. You are trying, and that really does matter more than you know.
Take life one step at a time. Everyone moves at their own pace, and this track is a good reminder of that.
