There’s a new outlaw in town—and this one’s serving surf & turf with a side of swagger. The Detroit Cowboy, the brainchild of Kid Rock and the Joe Vicari Restaurant Group, has officially opened its doors in Nashville’s Capitol View neighborhood, bringing Motor City flavor and Music City flair together in one wild culinary ride.
Located at 500 11th Ave N, this isn’t your average fine dining establishment. With Detroit’s legendary Joe Muer Seafood at its core and Kid Rock’s unmistakable personality splashed across every detail, The Detroit Cowboy is less “white tablecloth” and more “white dinner jackets and bolo ties—with a little rock ‘n’ roll on the side.”
Taking the “foo-foo” out of fine dining
“The Detroit Cowboy isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a culinary ride like no other,” Kid Rock says. And he’s not kidding. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by walls filled with personal memorabilia—gifts from Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Eminem, Bob Seger, and Dolly Parton—plus wild tour stories and nods to legends like Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and both Hanks (Williams and Jr.).
Designed to feel like a tribute to the grit of Detroit and the charm of Nashville, the restaurant aims to welcome all comers. “Whether you wear a bow tie, a bolo tie, or no tie—it’s all good,” Kid Rock adds. “I re-designed this place to share some of my favorite milestones and personal artifacts… all while still holding two middle fingers up high for the haters!”
In Kid Rock’s words? “I’m here to take the foo-foo out of fine dining.“
VIP vibes: Welcome to The Eagles Nest
Tucked away inside the restaurant is The Eagles Nest—a private dining room that puts every other VIP section to shame. With its own entrance, bathroom, and mood, this exclusive space is like Kid Rock’s personal den, decked out in taxidermy and high-end flair. It’s equal parts grit and glamour, offering guests a backstage pass to the wildest supper club in the South.
Joe Muer’s roots, Kid Rock’s energy
The backbone of The Detroit Cowboy is Joe Muer Seafood, a Detroit institution dating back to 1929. Restaurateur Joe Vicari revived the brand in 2011 and brought it to Nashville in 2023. Now, with Kid Rock in the mix, the concept gets a serious injection of adrenaline.
“We’ve built our name on quality, consistency, and hospitality—and now, with Kid Rock, we’re expanding our footprint,” Vicari explains. With Chef Marino Bianchi leading the kitchen, the menu is pure Americana with a decadent twist.
A menu worth writing songs about
Start with a Seafood Tower or Fire Roasted Portabella Mushroom Caps, then sink your teeth into standouts like:
- 32 oz Dry-Aged Tomahawk Ribeye
- Veal Chop Parmigiano with Burrata
- Surf & Turf featuring a filet and Tristan da Cunha Lobster Tail
- Freedom Run Farm Barnsley Lamb Chop
- Lobster Mac ‘n’ Cheese and Truffle Pomme Frites
And yes, some cocktails get the full rockstar treatment—finished tableside for that extra flair.
Dine like a legend
With a soundtrack curated straight from Kid Rock’s tour bus and décor that feels like a museum-meets-man-cave, The Detroit Cowboy is as much a vibe as it is a restaurant. “The only place on earth where Detroit grit and Nashville swagger collide for the finest dining hangout,” Kid Rock promises.
