Faith Schueler and Eric Paslay admit to still dreaming about an ex with their new duet, “I Dream You.” Classically structured, the ballad relinguishes the pressure to suppress those feelings and lets all their pain soak onto the record. “Find me in the night…,” the chorus falls from their lips.
“Should be over you by now, but I’m stuck in the middle,” the duo confides, finally admitting the truth to themselves. The arrangement is sweet, tied in a knot with bitter lyrics. The weight of those middle-of-the-night reveries drives the song to the finish line – and even when it’s over, it’s not really over.
“There’s a certain kind of heartbreak that lingers in dreams,” Schueler shares in a press statement. “This song helped me process memories that don’t fade with goodbye.”
