If it’s alright with you, it’s time to prepare for summer! Drew Green sings about just that in his infectious new song “Hot Chicken.” Over a hip-hop grind, he slots in lyrics about hot chicken, baked beans, and his friend with a boat. “Out in the back woods living / Walking through the pines, see the copper heads hissing,” he sings. It’s all the same to him, as each day falls into the next.
But it’s the little things in life that keep him going. “But if it all goes South, and the world burns down / That’s alright with him ’cause I know right where I’ll be,” he sings, over crashing, arena-sized guitars. He busts through the ceiling and leaves a fiery streak across the sky. The hook is that explosive.
“Probably the most different song I’ve ever written,” admits Green on Instagram “Hot Chicken” comes with the announcement of Green’s new EP, Comin’ In Country, out everywhere on April 18.
