The life of a touring musician is a blessed one. But it can also be lonely. Chancey Williams relates as much with his new song, “Miles on Me.” Propulsive and explosive percussion tip-toes around such blistering guitar that mimics the live concert experience. It busts from the seams and further highlights Williams’ musical chops. “I’ve got some miles on me,” he sings in the opening lines.
“Going the distance I’ve learned a thing or three,” he admits later on. Among those things, he’s learned how difficult it is to nurture personal relationships. Those connections we so desperately love and need fall by the wayside, as the open road stretches out in front of him. While Williams’ new song isn’t exactly “autobiographical,” he contemplates, “I sure relate to the dude in this song,” he says in a press statement.
“I bet most people who spend a good chunk of their life on the road will relate to this song and sorta know this guy when they look in the mirror,” he continues. “I’ve always loved my life on the road, but it can also be isolating and challenging, at times, in personal relationships.”
