There are few modern voices as powerful as The War and Treaty. Comprised of Tanya and Michael Trotter, the country-soul duo rip into “Carried Away,” a new barnburner from their forthcoming album. “Be careful what you’re asking me for ’cause I might leave you wantin’ more,” crows Michael in the opening verse, a dazzling piano intro setting the emotional stage. “I’m ready to go all night until the morning.”

Michael’s voice is smooth as homemade butter. “So, if you don’t want me to hold back and cut your body no slack, then baby let me give you this last warning,” he continues unfurling his pounding heartstrings. His warning is nothing short of seductive, as he slips and slides over the smoldering, pearl-clutching melody. “I might get carried away once we get in each other’s face,” he sings, gliding into his upper register. “Ain’t no holding up what’s going down in this place / I might get carried away.”

“Carried Away” leads into The War and Treaty’s new album, Plus One, out everywhere on February 14, 2025. Promising hope and healing, the duo sees “this record as an open invitation to be a part of what we’re doing—it came from wanting to be the hope we believe people need right now, as well as the hope that we need for ourselves,” Tanya says in a press statement.

Michael echoes the sentiment, stating, “One of our main intentions with this album is to inspire people to share themselves with others, and open themselves up to the possibility of being loved.”
