Part songbird, Rebecca Porter offers up a bouncy ode to choices, specifically, laundry. “The Laundry Pile” is deceptively cheery, masking the exhaustion of constantly, well, doing laundry. “The laundry pile has been stackin’ up for miles / And I’ll walk ten more just to avoid it,” she sings.
“Half dirty and half clean / Yeah it’s one hell of a thing / To feel like you’re one basket from losing your mind,” she continues. Her voice, one of country’s secret weapons, flies high and low. She can deliver both the pain of doing laundry constantly and the joy of performing live.
“I’m not saying we should skip laundry, grab our boots, and go honky tonkin’, but I’m also not not saying that,” she captions a live performance video, captured by Roberta Faceplant. But maybe she’s on to something. Just maybe, we let that laundry pile grow a little big taller and really enjoy life…
